Bakacast 6 – Robots in Hell
That's right, it's the episode everyone I have been waiting for... we finally review Casshern Sins. But because even we can't fill up an hour with Casshern discussion, we also review Venus Wars and tackle some important issues with the help of special guest Chris (aka Kagami on Project Haruhi): manga aggregation, absurd Haruhi DVD prices, the "loli bill", Japan's search for new creative talent and---of course---beards.
Truly, we are the pinnacle of moe- and beard-related content. And if my script for a new slice-of-life show about lumberjacks gets green-lit, we may finally get to combine our passions!

The music at the end is "ROBOTS" by Dan Mangan and is available for digital download on Amazon.
Bakacast 5 – Project K-ON!
Hey, guess what's back! Ritsu, Shamisen and I finally got enough free time to put together another Bakacast. And...uh...this one is a bit of a doozy.
As always, you can download the episode directly, subscribe to the RSS feed or follow us on iTunes.
We start out easy with a short discussion on the possibility of J-Rock bands making their way to Rock Band before launching into a much more involved (and tangential) look at some recent poll results about Cool Japan. Oh, and I guess there's something about a new Kyoto Animation series.
For the reviews segment, we wonder what the hell is up with Project A-Ko; and if you've read Ritsu's post on the subject, you'll have a good idea of where that conversation goes (he totally stole my Commando comparison). Also, we weigh in on the merits of K-ON!
Bakacast Episode 4 – This Is Absurd
Okay, we took about 3 weeks to release this episode, but it's twice as long as the others. So it's almost like we're on time!
You can download the episode directly, subscribe to our RSS feed or get it from iTunes.
We kick off our news segment with Funimation's decision to censor the Dance in the Vampire Bund DVD's (which they quickly reconsidered), followed by short discussions of Media Blasters' layoffs and whether the American anime industry should just die. Paul "Otaking" Johnson's fansub documentary closes out the news and provides us with a topic Ryoko, Shamisen and I can agree on before we start arguing about The Wings of Honneamise and Cromartie High School.
Next time: Project A-Ko! Casshern Sins! And punctuality (maybe)!
Bakacast Episode 3 – Lucky Star Wars
You can download the episode directly or subscribe using our RSS feed or the iTunes store.
For this episode, we talk about the legality (or lack thereof) of the Chris Handley case that's been going on for two years now, followed by our thoughts on whether Nippon Ichi Software America's venture into anime licensing will succeed. Then, in the review section, we trip out on Interstella 5555 and bravely don our flame-shields to give our mixed opinions on Lucky Star.
Regarding Chris Handley:
- This is the latest entry in the ongoing saga.
- This article contains the law he was accused of violating
- And this is the Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition case Handley's defense used to argue for precedent
Regarding NIS America:
- This is ANN's news story on the announcement
Regarding Lucky Star
- So, that obscure reference to an anime store that Jon mentioned not quite understanding? The Anime World Order explained it in their review. The shownotes I just linked to have comparison videos of the joke, too.
Regarding the spring season:
- chartfag released a new anime season chart. Thanks, chartfag!

Many thanks to Dustin for hassling with all that RSS and XML crap. I award him twenty moe points!
Bakacast Episode 1 – Aliens Among Us
This is the first "real" episode of Bakacast (the chronologically first episode was a proof of concept), a podcast hosted by Shamisen, Ryoko and myself. For this episode, we talk about alien designs in both Japanese and Western media, a point-and-click adventure game called The White Chamber and first Silent Mobius movie. Shownotes for this episode are after the break.
