I mean, sure, we know now.

Hi! This episode is very late! And I’m very sorry! I’m gonna be dumping the rest of my backlog in quick succession, so gird your RSS loins.

Bakacast #306 – Where The Gundams At?

iTunes | Direct Download | RSS

In outer space, apparently.

Due to scheduling difficulties and life interfering, we were forced to skip a few weeks of recording. So of course the logical thing to do was to recap, like, four episodes of each series we’re watching, because we’re a group of people who make great life choices. Long story short: Drifters loses its appeal but everything else stays pretty much on course. Overall this has been a pretty impressive season; and judging by the what I’m seeing for winter, we’re about to face a pretty steep drop in watchable shows.

Also, there was a bit of an unavoidable technical problem with this episode. Megan’s computer fan caused a noticeable high-pitched buzz in the recording, but one can’t simply turn off a computer fan (it tends to end badly for the computer). I did my best to remove as much as I could, but it will likely still be noticeably when she talks. I apologize for any bother this causes.

Bakacast #305 – The Red-Head Corollary

Also falls under the “Anime Witch Hypothesis.”

So we’re back with normal episodes of Bakacast. Yes, I know, JoJo’s Bizarre Rewatch isn’t finished yet. Scheduling issues made that basically impossible to do before the fall season started; and there’s such good shows airing right now that it would be a shame to delay talking about them until JJBR ended. So instead I’ll be attempting to stagger the production of both podcasts. Will it work out? Who knows! Life is chaos!

Bakacast #291 – Everything Is Sad Now

To be fair, it’s been moderately sad for a while.

On this final episode of the 2016 Winter season, we have a sudden upgrade in audio quality! If you’re wondering what brought this on, the answer is, “The much easier but lower quality method we were using previously no longer reliably works with Skype.” So now everyone is individually recording their audio tracks in Audacity, and I’m stitching it all together. Hopefully this will end up making the podcast nicer to listen to.

It sure took long enough.

I have a big backlog of podcasts to work through, and Bakacast is at the top of that list. So expect another episode to come out shortly. I am going to be productive even if it kills me (or prevents me from playing video games, which is almost like death). Oh yeah, on this episode we talk about Iron-Blooded Orphans.

Yeah, this guy looks legit.

We’re finally done with this marathon of a season, and we’ll soon be testing out our new review system so we won’t get nearly as worn out as we did this time. In the meantime, we rave about the endings of One Punch Man, Owarimonogatari, Noragami and Planetes.

Okay? Okay.

On this episode of Bakacast, Ben takes the wheel because I wasn’t able to watch everything on time. I do, however, have things to say about One Punch Man, Owarimonogatari, and Perfect Insider, which are the truly the most important things in life. Also, Luke is back to actually talk about Aria AA this time!

Bakacast #277 – The Perfect Record

We don’t get many of these, so cherish them while they last.

This episode was originally going to come out days sooner, but then I got horribly, painfully sick with gastroenteritis! If you’re not sure what the hell that means, look it up. It’s fun. In short: I spent most of the weekend lying down in bed trying not to dehydrate. So, you know, not super conducive to podcast editing. I’m gonna try to get the episode we recorded last Thursday up before Christmas. I’m not sure if we’ll record another episode before Christmas, though, as the holiday schedules might not line up. If not, we’ll have another double-up episode like we did after Thanksgiving week.

If there’s one thing I expect out of Gundam, it’s child brides.

We’re back from our Thanksgiving hiatus, and boy is there a lot of ground to cover. We keep the recording time pretty reasonable considering we had to double-up on shows, but Utawarerumono helped us out a bit by having not much going on. Instead, we spend most of our time praising Perfect Insider, arguing about Concrete Revolutio’s structure, and being mesmerized by Owarimonogatari’s background art.

Like if Satoshi Kon was obsessed with Legos.

Instead of using this spot to summarize some points we make in the podcast, I’ll inform y’all that we did not record anything on Thanksgiving week, because it was Thanksgiving week. So we’ll be doubling up on episode reviews during the next recording. Also also: I’ve been thinking about the workload that goes into making these podcasts lately, and how it takes a lot of time away from other content I’d like to be creating more regularly (as well as negatively impacting my performance on this podcast). The initial idea I brought up to my cohosts was a hiatus for the winter season, but that’s only a temporary solution; and I believe we’ve landed on a better one. Or are at least adjacent to a better one. We’ll let you know what we’ve decided on as soon as we’ve actually decided on it.
