K-ON!! OP and ED

The first episode of K-ON!! just finished airing in Japan. The speedsubs aren’t out yet, but fortunately we’ve got just the thing to take the edge off your moe cravings. Behold, the new K-ON!! opening and ending themes!

GO! GO! MANIAC

Listen!!

The singles of these songs will be released on April 28th by Pony Canyon.

I initially didn’t like the “Go! Go! Maniac” very much, but I think it’s starting to grow on me. It has a very infectious beat, like that damned Love Hina theme that always gets stuck in your head. As for “Listen!!”, I feel it’s kinda generic; definitely not as good as “Don’t Say Lazy”, but not all that bad either. Let’s hope the rest of K-ON!!‘s music is a bit more memorable.

Anyhoo, the buzz on Twitter seems to indicate the K-ON!! premier was a huge success. This will no doubt come as a relief to many otaku who have been nervous about Kyoani since last year’s Endless Eight debacle. Fortunately, it seems disaster has been averted… at least for now…

Haruhi Gum Transformation Extended Version

Apparently, Lotte’s new Haruhi transformation gum is so popular that they’ve revamped their website with a Haruhi theme, as well as posted an extended 30-second cut of their famous Acuo gum ad. It even features a… er, surprise cliffhanger ending.

A clean version of the original 15-second version can be viewed below the break.

It seems you can’t go wrong with Haruhi product tie-ins. Personally, I’m hoping for some Kyonko-themed pajamas. Make it happen, Japan!

Haruhi vs. Invader Zim!

This fan-made trailer for a Haruhi vs. Invader Zim crossover has been making the rounds recently.

It’s quite well-made… I hope this inspires somebody to make a full-length Haruhi/Zim mashup. A recent Lotte ad has also been quite popular lately, claiming that their new Acuo gum gives you fresh breath powerful enough to transform ordinary people into Haruhi characters.

Man, I wish MY cat would turn into a sexy catgirl. Where can I buy some of this gum?

K-ON!! is coming!

HOORAY!
The second season of everybody’s favorite moeblob slice-of-life anime premiers this week.  Since about half of our staff loves K-ON!! and half utterly loath it, I’d say this is going to be an interesting spring season here on Project Haruhi. Personally, I’m looking forward to this show; the first season was a lighthearted and enjoyable (if shallow) offering, and there’s no reason to suspect the second season will be any different. How about you, dear readers? Are you excited… or are you planning on hiding in your moe-proof bunkers until this storm blows over?

Incidentally, if you’re so inclined, you can follow the REAL Ritsu on Twitter. She’ll be keeping us up-to-date on the latest K-ON!! news, merchandise and fanart… provided she remembers tweet regularly. I’ll remind Mio to crack the whip on poor Ricchan. Also, a more in-depth discussion of K-ON!! can be found on our forums.

Minori Chihara Sings For Haruhi Movie

We are really getting close to the cinema showing date for the up and coming film The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya and the trickle of news items is starting to increase. Minori Chihara, the voice behind Yuki Nagato, has appeared in a six minute long video of her song Yasashii Bōkyaku. While I personally find the song a bit whiny, the video depicts the scenes in Tokyo upon which the Suzumiya series were based in and around. Examples include the hill rising towards the school, the entrance area, the old clubhouse, etc.

Also, in other news Bandai Entertainment has licensed the DVD’s of the second season of Haruhi for the USA. Unfortunately, this also means another dub into English; a waste of time and effort which I frown upon. How anyone can listen and then favour the English dub over the original (and superior) Japanese casting is beyond me.

Idolizing Girls’ Generation…

A slight change of pace on my behalf as I sit here in a superheated room without any means of cooling. Summer has arrived here and I have been roaming the countryside with friends, with many hours behind the wheel. I must of heard this particular song about 30 times over the past few days, and am now becoming quite hypnotized by the video clip. Take a look for yourself.

This particular song is called GeeGee by Korean pop-idol group Girls’ Generation. Since I am pretty music illiterate (always forgetting the song names or artists etc) I haven’t discovered Korean or Japanese pop-idol music, let alone western counterparts. In this case both song and clip are very catchy….agree?

Lucky Star Dance Reaches Critical Nerdiness

Before you comment about it, yes, we are entirely aware that we are late to the party. In the interest of being comprehensive, though, we present to you the Lucky Star opening meticulously re-done with Transformers.

Ok, everyone can stop making these now. I’m pretty sure kkal won.
