Pokemon!

So, anybody else here play Pokemon?

I'm a big Pokemon fanatic, and I've played every game since Crystal. I'm planning on getting Platinum after final exams are over (about 2 weeks), which I'll use to EV train a competitive team.

Finally, my favorite Pokemon...

I used to play it a lot. Don't really like it anymore. Churning out games with little to no changes throughout has left me bored of it. I've got Red, Yellow, Crystal, Sapphire and used to Fire red. I never bothered getting Diamond or Pearl or whatever. And finally, favourite pokemon (I'm still allowed one...):

Even my aunt has a favourite, so yeah, you're allowed one. :p

Not too keen on the 3Dness in DP, but I still liked the games. I also intend to get a new DS asap so I can play Pearl copy and get Platinum. =<

Favourite... no suprises here:

yep, you (probably didn't guess it) guessed it. Gallade is one of the only pokemon i like, in a explore team with a Gardevoir. perfect couple.
i try playing the games, but in heart I've always been a major fan of the mystery dungeon series, but my friend's (who give a damn) seem to think its a fail :(
(Akiru (Gallade) = lvl 75, Katsura (Gardivour) =lvl 74 == team Twilight ^^)

My DP team currently consists of Gardevoir, Gallade and Metagross all lv100 and EV trained.

They don't have a team name.

(i was refering to my mystery dugeon team silly ^^')
that is a pretty awsome combo ^^' on Diamond (male character) mine are, Gallade, Gardivour (duh) Umbreon, Luxray (oh yes), Blaziken, Blaziken+Gallade=so much pwnege i can take the whole tower in double with them with no pots and Milotic, probably the most beautiful out of the all ^^. all lvl 86 (fav lvl, cause 100 is for noobs (sep you pande))

lv100 is only n00bish if they're hacked/legends

Besides... 86 is a pathetic level. You can't be sure that they're properly EV trained or whatever.

100 is the level competitive battlers use for a reason.

Excuses.

Anyway... I've found myself a nice timid eevee with 30/31 ivs in both speed and sp.attack

Now for vitamins and then evs 8D

At some point i need to connect up my gamecube to my pc so i can trade espeon to fire red via colloseum/XD. Since I want an espeon I need day/night to evolve it. This could be interesting.

I'll probably EV it on Fire Red to make it simpler.

agreed, i don't/didn't like the 4th era because i thought that they were all far to colourful and childish, and that they gave Evolution to the pokémon in the first seires, i mean pn of them would have evolved by now!

That last post didn't make any sense. What about EVs now?

Actually... I remember reading that the artists have actually drawn up some 1,000+ monsters since the first games came out. Each gen they take a random selection of these, balance them out and release them. So there's no gen that will get better or worse.

Or I could be wrong.

In a move that has surprised absolutely no one, Nintendo has announced they're remaking Pokemon Gold and Silver for the DS. The games will be named (in Japanese) Pokemon HeartGold and Pokemon SoulSilver, and will likely see a late 2009 Japanese release.

In a rather MORE suprising turn of events, info courtesy of the new corocoro magazine scans...

Crystal's female protagonist marina... is no more. She's been replaced.

Oh, and it looks like you can have pokemon outside their pokeballs... to follow you around. But who'd want that?

I can't wait 8D

Actually, Marina was just her anime name. In the GS games, she was known as Kris (クリス in Japanese).

Here is what Kris from the original GS games looked like.

And here are the characters from the remakes.

Personally, I'm just glad that the G2 Pokemon will be getting some updated Ken Sugimori artwork. The old art looks dated...

Marina was also one of the suggestions IIRC. I can go check that...

*does so*

Apparently not.

Kris, Jodi, Juana and Amanda were given. Amused that Crystal wasn't a possibility though.

It seems the name of the new female Pokemon protagonist is Soul.

With nothing better to do except obsess over Mio, the otaku community has already produced fanart of her.

This particular piece raises an interesting comparison...

Looks like there's going to be a skateboard to do the job of Rydel's Cycles' Acro Bike alongside the old bike.

This was, in fact, an idea first put forward in the development of 'Pokemon 2' which became the original Gold and Silver.

Also... rumours that HG/SS will have a more in depth breeding system. Supposedly pokemon will inherit physical features from their parents.

I'm thinking the features will depend on IVs... much like a hgh attack IV pokemon will pass on high attack IVs to it's offspring already.

So Ryoko's Scyther may have longer scythes (attack) and wings (speed) to that of another with lower IVs in those stats.

And then the gender differences also, like in DP.

The skateboard thing comes from an unreliable source, according to Bulbapedia.

As far as the in-depth breeding system... Game Freak doesn't tend to introduce new mechanics in their remakes. They didn't even bother adding weather or day/night cycles to FireRed and LeafGreen... so I'm a bit skeptical they'd choose to introduce a radical new breeding mechanic in HeardGold / SoulSilver.

Also, the official HG/SS site is up (in Japanese).

Not sure where this is actually quoted from... but:
The official Japanese Pokémon website has recently updated with new information about Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. The site includes new Pokémon and character artwork, game screenshots and more.

The release date of the game in Japan is on Fall 2009. The site include details about the Generation II starter Pokémon, Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile, and new artwork for them. New artwork can also be seen for the Version mascots, Lugia and Ho-Oh, and for the player characters, Gold and Soul, the new girl player character.

The site also provided screenshots seen on the images from CoroCoro. It features a screenshot of how choosing the starter Pokémon will be like. It also shows that the PokéGear will be redesigned with a new layout and pops up when X or Start is pressed. This new navigation system will be accessed on the touch screen. Two images show that the player's starter will follow them, much like Pikachu did in Yellow. The final screenshot shows that an images will appear once again when entering a new area, similar to FireRed and LeafGreen.

Another one of the site's updates confirms that the Pikachu-colored Pichu will unlock an event involving the Notched-ear Pichu. It will occur near the Ilex Forest Shrine.

A third update confirms that the special Arceus to be given away starting June will have an effect in Platinum.
