Pokemon Black and White: something slightly newer?

so... we now have quite a bit of details on the new Pokemon games:

* The title: Pokemon Black+White
- Good/evil? Hmm...

* The first Pokemon revealed: Zoroark and Zoroa, it's unevolved forn.
- In the next pokemon movie... looks pretty cool, actually.
- Legandary dark type?

*And now the most recent Corocoro scans: Starters and trainers and full trainer arts and some screenshots.
- Trainers are much older than the previous ones
- Big hair is back in style

Actually.... with this whole black+white thing I've been thinking 'good and evil' from the beginning. The first pokemon to be revealed was a DARK type too... and older trainers sugests that they want a morally grey area, not just the 'this is good' and 'that is bad' naivity children have.

Maybe we'll have a slightly more sinister plot? Or maybe we get 2 plotlines? One where we're good and thwart the bad guy, another where we're bad and GET thwarted? About time they added something new to the plots... Colluseum's story was by far my favourite, I think.

So... any ideas? Or am I just reading too much into it?

THE EIGHTIES ARE BACK! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!

The new starters are alright... except for the water one. He just looks stupid. >_<

I like the female trainer hairstyle, but her shorts are ugly.

These have to be the most non-threatening starters I have ever seen. It's almost like they designed them with the inevitable plush toy tie-in in mind. MARKETABLE!

The grass type reminds me of Shyna from Silhouette Mirage, which is a good thing.

I doubt that what you would count for 'plot' in a pokemon game will be any different from the last twelve or so games' "catch some pokemon, then battle them." Not saying that it won't be fun and wildly successful.

Bah, you're both loony. That hair looks horrible.

More scans from CoroCoro can be found here.

OK... so we have far clearer screenshots now, presumably as they were placed on the official website. See them all lined up >>HERE<<

I'm rather hopeful for these games... the graphics look immensely cool compared to DPPt. Particularly these two which are BEAUTIFUL for DS graphics.

The new environments look gorgeous, but the 2D sprites don't mesh well. It looks...very awkward. Maybe it's not so bad in motion, though.

Still, it's good to see they're actually taking advantage of the DS' graphical capabilities.

Now if only the water and fire starters had better designs...

The Black and White version legendaries have been revealed, along with an American release date.

A clean textless pic of both legendaries.

Also, here's a new gameplay video of Black and White in action.

Hmm... those are.. interesting. Wonder how they fit into the whole Creation story as it is so far.

Reshiram looks like something out of Card Captor Sakura. They also look to be enormous o-o

It looks awesome, but the one thing that annoyed me slightly [apart from the fact I can't read Japanese.], is that in the battle sequences, the Pokemon and various effects seemed too blurry. Maybe that's just the quality of the video itself, though? I like that it looks more like an actually battle and how the camera moves between the two sides.
Up to three Pokemon on a side, huh? Awesome.

[Btw! I love her hair.]

I've ran out of hope for pokemon games these days. They are all, essentially, the same game and that really annoys me. I doubt this'll be any different. The only thing I can think of that would breathe new life into pokemon games is to make them mmo. That's pretty risky though so I don't think it will happen. Also, is it just me or are they really running out of ideas for new pokemon? The starters pretty much look ridiculous and incapable of fighting and that black legendary just looks like a black palkia.

I've given the game a test drive and i must say ,it is really an improvement. I am with the fact that 2D sprites are messy, but I dont' slam it too hard, because the map is beautiful, and so it the season changes (oh god I love that part)

The only part of the game i would hammer would be the new battle ideas. I saw the triple battle thing, and i face palm. It was foreboding itself in my head for a while. But what really hit me was the clockwork battle system. Thats jsut messed up and confusing....Is it supposed to make the battle fair or something?

I know that if i was a Gym leader, I'd ban that battle type straight off. I'm a traditional battler, who just happens to have expertise in double battles >.<;;

Well... as the leader you'd be the one to choose anyway, no? I kinda like rotation battles actually-- they're all kinds of fun.

Imma play White as a Nuzlocke challenge when it comes out, I think. I might do a comic out of it also... that could be fun.

Picked this up on Wednesday and it's been pretty fun! Mostly because I haven't played a pokemon game in six/seven years so all the stuff they changed is pretty refreshing. Except for tackle, that move can go to hell.
