Possible rule suggestions?

Since there's no other topic for this... I might as well make one. Uh... if you're going to actually suggest anything... best keep it sensible, and state a reason why the rule is a good idea.

ALL-CAPS: i keep seeing this... it's annoying to read and actually puts strain on my eyes... it's not good. It's also like shouting. Is it possible to add to the rule concerning writing?

Also... a minimum word count would be useful. On another forum I frequent they have enforced a 'three word rule' which applies only to the main content of the post (Random additions to bypass the rule didn't get counted). All these 1-word posts kill topics... and are just post count padding... it's annoying.

On-topic Posts: I've been dragged off topic here a lot now, but mainly due to others creating a reason to. I think that it should be expressed more prominently that topics are to be followed... the rules rules here seem to rely on people knowing all the standard forum rules.

Spamming is already against the rules, but I've been lenient because I don't want to scare off new members (we need them badly) and because I like to give people a chance to rectify things themselves. Let it be known that I will be editing and/or deleting posts considered as spam, and repeat offenses will incur some kind of disciplinary action as per the forum rules.

That's good. Personally I find more members are drawn to well-moderated boards.

This looks like it's coming around nicely.. Ah Nagato, If you need help you know where I am.

Spamming outside of the Spam section does not make me happy .. Caps and poor spelling, (I know that some of you are not English as first language) also ruffles my fur...

So in future if we can follow some guidelines this will all work out..

Indeed. there were other things I thought of... but they were lost while I wrote that post. Wonder if they were included in my rant at Maikeru.Y via PM. *goes to check*

Oh, on another point: The ranking...

In Ryoko's post it says 500 posts for 'Data retention entity'... however, when you look at my post count and rank... I have 240+ posts, not 500.

Interesting... I'll have a look at the board software /database.. Methinks we might have an error..

Thanks...

Not really... as it wasn't that which was changed in the end. I was simply reporting an error, as is my duty as a member.
