Your Favorite Haruhi Novel?

Which is your favorite Haruhi light novel?

Ye have been warned, newcomers. Spoilers up ahead for those who have not read ALL the novels so far. If you're an anime-only Haruhiist, I suggest you back away from this thread. Just some advice.

Personally, I think the Disappearance is my favorite. I mean, yeah, obviously the Melancholy was huge and we wouldn't be anywhere without it, I think the Disappearance is the best putting that aside.

For a quick recap, Kyon wakes up one day and all seems normal. He heads to school, sits down, and there's a surprise waiting for him. Instead of Haruhi sitting behind him, it's Asakura Ryoko, the girl who previously tried to kill him (but was completely eliminated by Nagato.) Apparently, she was "always there", and nobody has any memory of a girl named Haruhi. There's no trace of her, either. Nor is there any trace of Koizumi, or his entire class. Asahina Mikuru still exists, but isn't a time traveler, and has no memories of knowing Kyon. Kyon's last hope is Nagato, who now has subtle emotions and is no longer than alien.

Not only is the story and concept very interesting, this is the ultimate character development of the always-negative Kyon. He gets a taste of life without the crazy SOS Brigade, something he's always wanted. In the end, it's also the surprising character development of Nagato, and her inner wants.

What's your favorite novel?

Lazysunside: What is up with such a spammy post?

Aaanyway... My favourite would, also, be Disappearance. It seems to be the most action-packed. Though I can't wait for the last few in anime. I wanna see how Kyo-Ani handle's Kuyoh's hair xD

No offense intended, kitty, but I laughed out loud at the irony, there. '>.>

Next to Disappearance...the current storyline in novel 9 (Sasaki, Kuyoh, etc.) is interesting and cool, but I was confused the first time I read it by the 2 sepereate worlds/timelines.

However, recently, I came back and read them with a new strategy. Read ALL of a first, then ALL of b. GENIUS! :3

I'd say it was easier the way it's written >.>

But didn't you mix them up? Weren't you confused if "this" happened in a or if "this" happened in b when it switched?

And what's your theory on the 2 different stories? I'm sticking with the idea that they're 2 alternate dimensions, one where Kyon sides with Sasaki, one where he sides with Haruhi. Then, a slider, (likely the girl who was so interested in the SOS Brigade examinations) will bring 1 Kyon to the other dimension to help save the day.

I'd, indeed, say it was slider material. I'm planning to use that in the fan comic i'm thinking on.

Actually... if you really wish to download them... the Baka-Tsuki's version of first 8 (PDF file... and it's not quite as updated though, i believe) have a torrent going round. You just have to search a little.

There is no way for any of us to know this until an official announcement is made.
And if we did happen to have connections that made us privy to this information, we would probably not be in a position to share it.

Not in a store, no. But that's no big deal if you don't mind reading from a computer screen.

The Japanese copies will be useful for anyone who wants to learn Japanese. Of course... You'd need to know the kana, some kanji, sentance structure... and have a dictionary handy =p
I'll be ordering them soon methinks... just need to learn katakana... I'll pick up kanji slowly. =D
