I've worked out I don't live too far away from you people. Not sure I'd join though. I can't be there everyday or anything.

The problem with this idea is that only a small amount of us live in England. I'm the only English staff member, that's for sure.

damn you.

hm ^o)

*thinks*

poll it. if people are willing to come then we could. then again, more people would want to go to america by assumption of the number of staff and their countries of origin. still, it'd be nice for the english members...

duno... im not great with plans... im more of an ideas person.
im guessing we find a way to get a place to set up, get people to come over, find a way to have a good time. i guess we'd need things to do, including a cosplay event. i assume we could even try to find a way to get other groups of people to do things.

all in all we'd need:

an organiser - to find things like a place to meet
a sponsor - to get our names out and get people interested in coming
a liason - to get people to run things at the event
a director - to run it overall
a secretary - to handle mail and phonecalls and messages and stuff related to the event

and anybody else with skills not listed above that would be necessary to the event. e.g. people to make the place look pretty when we get there.

I have to say... setting up another con would certainly not be a bad idea, but a pH con wouldn't really work.

We'd need to get sponsors before the venue really, or we'd need to be spending a fair bit of money straight away.

Sorry to pee on your parade, Haruki, but we probably wouldn't be able to pull it off. The main reason being, as stated before that only a handful of us are actually situated within the UK, (and the distances between some of us are very great.) Travel costs and staying places aren't very forgiving on the funds of students like ourselves.

Also, I hate to say it, but the forum isnt particularly active with its members, so it would probably mean dragging in the general public who view this site, and may not particularly participate in posting on the forum as...well. The Site isnt just about the forum.
The fact that our Seitenkan group has only recently started up means that we may not be enough to draw people in to the idea. Whereas expos such as MCM are more popular. We should just leave it to them to provide expos and conventions and the like.

However, that is not to say that mini meet ups at the bigger events cant happen. Everything you've listed just seems like too much hassle. Maybe we can look at other places that do meet ups (I know that some happen in Manchester) and there are other groups that organise expos (Anime league do one if anyones heard of that)

But yes, thats just my two cents...pence...

If you guys can't make it to the cons, you can always try staging some kind of regular event... maybe a public performance of the Hare Hare Yukai dance in one of your local parks/public areas to show off your cosplay. Another suggestion: do a genderbent version of The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina Episode 00. Of course, the latter would require more costumes...

Heh... personally the idea of setting up a con around here doesn't seem such a bad idea. It'd be a lot of hassle, but if it worked it'd be quite a feat. Naturally it would be neither seitenkan or pH based, but rather a general geek con.

Plus, if i chronicled the efforts, I could use if for something at college.

hmmm, so ATM we're rolling with either a friendly meet-up or a general J-con?

Methinks friendly meetup would be a necessity in the organisation of the latter plan.

correct. Mr pandemonium, i believe you have control now, thanks to your reality storm :)

it is you and maikeru who are the brits here, right?

Why don't I count? Ever?

Yeah, I'm British and count... And am probably more down to earth than Jasper is... Why do we need to be down to earth and what are we doing?

I'm pretty sure a pH/Seitenkan con wouldn't work. PH can be advertised somewhere and your lot could do the hare hare yukai or something... but other thanj that it'd have to be purely just a con for those who, either don't have access to london or midlands expo, or would prefer more cons to go to.
