Umm... I think English colleges are the equivelent of the last two years of High School in America (I 'THINK')

Clarify.
The US has one of the worst educational systems in the industrialized world.

There's two different English schooling types before college:

ages 4-10(reception to year 5) | 4-11 WITHOUT middle school; add year 6

{10-13: middle school (years 6-8)}

13-16: High school(9-11) (7-11 without M.School)

THEN

at 16/17 you move onto year 12 at college or at a school's post 16.

Whenever you get the results you want... you can move onto University.

Mandatory schooling ends after year 11; at 16 years old (or 15 if your birthday is VERY late in the school year).

Ah, okay. We go for 13 years in the US (Kindgergarten at age 5, then 12 more years until age 18), though it is legal to drop out at grade 10 (age 16) with parental consent. So, yeah, apparently British colleges would theoretically cover the last two years of American Highschool.

Japanese system is amusing... age 7-18. Given what my friend told me about his schools... Haruhi would be 15/16. I'd say 16 since her birth date wasn't given... and she has yet to celebrate a birthday. I would assume that it was late in the school year.
He also told me that his old school, in Tokyo (He moved to Saitama), was the setting for Lucky Star.
