I'm not one to sit through an episode of anime if I don't find it interesting.

And that is what makes us human. Unlike those beastly androids!

Fractale 1: Well I found this to be pretty interesting, with a future set in the past with human surrogates mostly replacing flesh and bone, and sky-pirates. Yup. Also, what I found to be quite is that everything is well animated, and showing the gestures people make when talking were a nice touch rather than just talking heads. Not sure about
Spoiler:
the index-type character introduced at the end of the episode
though.

Squareface Story 2: Only more mysteries at this point, but at least we "know" what is causing the Sayornara zetsubou sensei OP to crop up. To me this seems less of a Magical girl lagann, and more of a Magical girl Drakengard+Faust.
Spoiler:
Also that Giref seed thing is such BS wehn they show us it's taking the black stuff OUT OF THE SOUL SEED
PS cat-rabbit is totally satan.

EDIT: German on the wall
Spoiler:
[from faust]Woe! Woe!
Thou hast destroyed
The beautiful world,
With powerful fist;
'Tis smashed, downward hurled!
A demigod dashed it to bits!
We're trailing
The ruins on to the Void,
And wailing
Over the beauty lost and gone!
Yumekui Merry 2: This episode gets bonus points for the main character having The Mayor from Arakawa as the main character's dad, but minus points for having a walk-in-on-peeps-having-a-bath scene, and the episode almost ending mid-sentence. Also
Spoiler:
The way they killed that side character was p brutal!

GOSICK 2: Well, this certainly got retarded with the inclusion of about a dozen or so of the worst anime tropes. Also, I really want to say that it seems like there's whitewashing with regards to Japanese history from around this period, but it's hard to say which war they are talking about. (If it's the second world war, then minus like a billon points). It probably is not all that important, but it is something that annoys the hell out of me. I'll give it one more episode to stop being dumb!

Wandering Son 1: So, it turns out there's like 33 manga chapters preceding this and we've been plonked right in the middle of the story with very little bearing as to what the relationships between the characters are or WHO they are. This is kind of solved in the first episode where you learn what's what, but at the cost of getting to know the characters a little better. The music feels really hammy 'cause all they do is really depressing tunes over and over, and it makes everything really depressing and dull. Also, the protagonists seem to lack... something? Personality, amiableness, some kind spark that makes it hard for me to empathise with them. So yeah, here's hoping we see more of Basketball girl in the next three episodes!

This is going to be 11 episodes, which really sucks unless it's getting a second season.

Is this a Magical girl?? 2: Please oh please don't have this become a harem. Also: vampire ninjas.

Edit: Remember kids, break dancing is always a good way to break the ice!

Level E: I'm getting a real Astrofighter sunred vibe from this, which is a good thing. The MC becomes awesome in this episode, and... what's this? A female lead that isn't objectified via fanservice (moe or otherwise)??? and she's actually a pretty handy, likeable character? Oh the nineties, this will never sell!

hourou musuko 2: WOW TAKATSUKI SURE IS GREAT

YEAH SHE SURE IS

MAN I WISH I COULD BE AS COOL AS SHE IS

TOTALLY DUDER

for like 20 minutes! The only saving graces were Chi who is awesome and brief sparks of personality from the protagonists. Which means Chi'll die in episode eight. Also jesus christ that soundtrack was written by someone who has premium honey-glazed ham for hands

Madoka Magica 3: ...
Spoiler:
JESUS MOTHERLOVING CHRIST! I'd be all smug about calling the Drakengard thing, but goddamn that was brutal as hell! I didn't think this was gonna happen right off the bat. That little bit of mass that comes out of that clown thing was a "nice" detail Image.
Predictions for next Bakacast's ED: something from the Drakengard OST

Dream Eater Merry 3: welp, I think most people will drop this because it suffers from the same problems, pacing or otherwise that have been present from the start, although navel shots are at an all time low. I'm giving it one more episode because I'm still interested in where this is going, albeit it is waning.
Spoiler:
At least we know what's what with the eyes.
Edit: Also yep, his dad is The Mayor

It really seems to be all over place. Episode 2 was barely coherent because it went really quickly through the important stuff and lingered on the filler with seemingly no rhyme or reason to the direction of the episode. 3 is more cohesive with its direction but it lingers waaay to long on that filler, and to be honest the fight was kind of weak (this is probably just me though). But hey, at least the dream scapes change from encounter to encounter, which is always a nice touch.

Don't know if I could go that far, but I can say that I was pleasantly surprised by this season so far.

But I'm still managing to fall behind, I need to go catch up...

Two bottom rows look straight up terrible, and there's maybe 4, 5 things in the other three that stand out. Although I did say this about winter season, but bottom left of the chart really drags it down.

ANYWAY

Gosick 3: if the mystery disintegrates into bloody violence every time, along with Tom Clancy-esque conspiracy theories, I may keep watching this!

Also, Monochrome (1st Star driver maiden's song) is out!

I liked Gosick 3 myself... But what I particularly liked about it was that
Spoiler:
the male protag WAS ACTUALLY GOOD AT SOMETHING. Usually in stuff like this it seems like the protag is only good for stirring up emotions, but this one can fight! Maybe he didn't manage to put up a brilliant fight, but he never flinched to throw the punches when it mattered!

Other shows this season with competent and/or useful male protagonists that get into fights:

Star Driver
Level E
Fractale
Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka

All of those are better than GOSICK, by the way.

Also, he linked the chart right here.

The point I had was that in GOSICK the Protag was expected to be more like that of a harem anime or along the lines of ToraDora. Even Shana took OHGOD SO LONG before the protag could hold his own.

Dream eater Merry 4: Schizophrenia the anime.

Useless McSquareface 4: COME ON ALREADY! They're really dragging the magical girl?? shtick out, and it's starting to test my patience. That said it was still a pretty good episode, with a mind bending witch. It's just really annoying to have a protagonist that has zero drive for about a third of the series.
