Augmented Reality... now in the form of a maid you can strip to her underwear and dress up.

I had to get my hands on this.

So, being the dirty cheat that I am, I downloaded the program off the official site and found a patch for it.

I then made the 'peripherals,' as it were, myself out of paper.

It works, to an extent. As the patterns were drawn in by hand in permanant marker on a hand-crafted paper cube (etcetera), it's extremely glitchy and she spends quite a lot of time invisible. I'll make a printed on version at some point.

Here's the result of my efforts (and my rather fail cube):

Haha.

This has become my huge DO WANT. I'm determined to get into 3D modelling and augmented reality now :p

Because normal reality is just so damn boring...

Ha. Here's some more Augmented Reality awesomeness:

Though, unlike my maid, this is done on prerecorded material... allowing for huge renders. Realtime AR has to be a bit more simple at the moment.

OMG that is realy awsome ^^''
its also kinda suprising how simple it is to use (i think)

i personally think that technolligy could get pretty useful for the future

Indeed. though it's far from simple. Still requires all the expertise of a 3D modeller and animation rigger.

Then you have to understand the program for it and other such things. The way it works seems pretty simple, mind. It takes points in the image and follows them as the camera moves. The amount it moves in relation to other points dictates how close/flat etc the surface is.

You know how, in a car, things further away seem to go past a lot slower? It works on that.
