Sony has announced their newest handheld system, the PSP Go.
Aside from the obvious sliding redesign, the system will also do away with the UMD and add 16 GB of solid-state memory. The unit will feature a 3.8 inch screen, be half as light at the PSP 3000, and have Memory Stick Micro and Bluetooth capability. Online distribution of content seems likely.
Given that this product was revealed several days prior to E3, many are wondering if Sony has an even bigger surprise in store...
Early reports from the homefront suggest legions of Sony fanboys have their mouths agape, drooling in anticipation.

Looks alright. Only problem with it I see is that the analog stick looks to be placed stupidly. Your thumb would be over the D pad to use it... Maybe that's just me though, I don't know. Will this be the PSP's successor though, therefore being the PSP2 or what though? I won't be bothered unless it is.

Re: Sony Announces PSP Go
I'll give sony the benefit of the doubt when it come to control design and placement, they have done well by me so far. does the new PSP go have any spec upgrades, or is this just a midlife update?

Re: Sony Announces PSP Go
I guess nobody bothered to read the linked articles.
From the IGN article...
From the IGN article...
So, it's not a mid-life update OR a replacement. It's a whole new system. It won't be cross-compatible with the PSP, since it uses a different medium. I sincerely hope nobody here has been buying movies on UMD...In terms of the family tree, Koller said that the PSP Go is not replacing the PSP-3000 but that both units will live in harmony on retail shelves.
