CLANNAD
The internets are all abuzz with this one, but in case you've somehow managed to dodge all the hype:
Anime adaptation of the game of the same name made by Key/Visual Arts, produced by Kyoto Animation (AIR, Kanon, Haruhi, Lucky Star). Premieres October 5th.
Clean OP and ED
The ED makes me tear up. You'll have to watch the show to find out why

No, I'm more or less incapable of reading Japanese. My language comprehension is minimal.
I am running through the game looking at the CG and using my memory of the anime to fill in what gaps I can.
[note: I used babel fish to translate your last post, it came out as: 'The っ て, Japanese understands?' -it's actually rather creepy.]

Ah, I see.
That sentence more or less translates to: "So you're saying you understand Japanese?" Creepy internet translator thwarted.
I've been wanting to get my hands on CLANNAD, and if they exist, all-ages versions of AIR and Kanon for PC, but I'm having trouble finding a place that won't rob me blind.

Wow, that's really crappy Japanese, Nagato.Nagato wrote:って、日本語が分かる?
The usage of the particle が is incorrect. Generally, が is used to mark the subject of a sentence where a question word is used (i.e. who, what, where, which, etc.) or a sentence that answers such a question. The particle you want is を, which marks the direct object of a sentence.
Also, your verb 分かる is in infinitive form (you forgot to conjugate it). Remember, when you look up a verb in the dictionary, it's in infinitive form and needs to be conjugated before you can use it. The correct form for your sentence is 分かりますか (with the か added to the end to make it a question). So, in other words, your sentence should read
日本語を分かりますか。
No wonder babel fish was confused.

The translation was dropped near completion. The creator decided it inethical and refused to continue until they got permission from Key.bluemercury wrote:Kanon has an all-ages ver. i don't no about air, and for kanon there was a fan made english translastion out for it about 2 yr ago.
As for CLANNAD... just get Baka-Tsuki's translated ver when finished.

On another note: Sprockethole CLANNAD Pan-and-Scan 2 out.

All right, but remember that informal = rudeNagato wrote:Not crappy - just way too informal
And I'm pretty sure が and を are equally correct in this instance - they simply assume a different implied sentence structure.
Also, the dictionary form means the same thing as what you posted, only less formal.
Especially when speaking to somebody you don't know very well...

After seeing this thread as well as a few others about it, I decided to check Clanned out. My first impression was 'Haruhi?'. I got that impression during one of the classroom scenes when Okazaki sat at his desk which just so happened to be next to a window. So far the jury is still out for this one. I don't know if it will be just a clone of some other anime. Will have to give it a couple more episodes before passing judgment. But so far its ok.

I loves me some Fuuko. I'm a total Fuuko Master wannabe :3Pandamonium wrote:The episode instoduced a few other ... they're... odd.
You'll understand that later. Hopefully.
It has a few themes that are kinda similar to Haruhi (like the quest to relieve boredom), but it's a completely different animal. CLANNAD's main theme is community, which should become more apparent as the story progresses.Dragon wrote:After seeing this thread as well as a few others about it, I decided to check Clanned out. Also, the closest it ever gets to an action scene is Tomoyo's 64-hit combo, and that fight was over before it began
I do hope you all stick with this, because, unless KyoAni really fumbles hard, this'll be the one to watch this season. And yes, I know spoilers.

Similarity characteristics:
>hill to school
>guy in group of girls
>clubroom thing
>a cat... if seemingly just random
>library girl
>moe ATTACK
>Kyo-Ani anime
But the differances are clear. Especially in that in that one's originally a Key/Vis. Arts visual novel... and the other a series of books of a completely different genre.
Haruhi: Pandora's box of sci-fi fun... with moe!
CLANNAD: Sad guy among sad girls in Spring, Summer, Autumn [English... sue me] and Winter... With moe!

i find it better than the origenal kanon but not as good as the 2006 kanon. also i can only find it in full screen, i think wide screen ver would boost my opinion of it alot. next eps is going to be subed in the next day or so. maybe we will get a little more story developmet and less of the itro story we have seen so far.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.
