I see. Though, given what I was told by my Japanese friend, does it work differently?

I don't use it when referring to females, so I don't really know. I just know I've heard native Japanese do it on occasion, but not often enough for me to pick up on the proper usage.

I think this is quite high up on the list of how far off topic something's gone that I've seen personally. Also Jasper you should have realised if I use the word 'meanies' I'm not being serious.

is 'hello' much of a topic in the first place?
Re: Hello

by Taiga
Not really. Under normal circumstances, this topic would have died a few days after it began.
But normal circumstances never met me or Lazysunside, did they?

The use of 'point taken' means xsirhc agrees with me and, if it made any sense, would probably agree with you also.

nature decided to play a late april fools joke on us, high winds blew out power lines, took out public transport and traffic lights. no power for better part of an entire day. trees are down all over the place

I got it.
Me and a few friends have a habit of, each year, doing a April Folls prank on a town we live in.
Last year consisted of a Banksy copycat (traffic cones melting into the ground)
This year a, disused, for sale sign stolen from a garden. It currently resides halfway up the town hall.

some kids from a local school stole traffic diversion signs and routed a detour through a high school.
except i think that was for 'muck up' week...cant remember.
