Exactly what is says on the tin, looks like someone's showing that their Army is still an Army after all these years.

I find it mildly disturbing it was bellow people ranting about John Edward's old extra maritial affairs. As Ryan Sohmer of Blind Ferret productions put it,

Why am I not surprised.. This government (Untied States) has no friends nor foreign policy to speak of .. We've suffered eight years of go it alone, cowboy diplomacy.

Now the Russians decide to one up the Chinese.. Well they have the world watching the Olympic games... Gee let's have our own games, war games, something everybody will watch.... Funny how the Russian television network just happen to be riding along with the lead column of tanks.....

Who ever winds up President of the United States in Nov is going to have their hands full from the oath of office onwards...

What has Russia got to gain from invading Georgia? Not that they are invading, but military action will surely hurt any international reputation they may have built up. Then again, maybe they are trying to re-assert themselves as a superpower or something. Wasn't there an issue not long ago where a russian long-range bomber came close to british aerospace?

Ok, at this point, I'm not even sure what I find more disturbing anyway. The Russians having a rather aggresive foreign policy that the US cannot complain about unless they wish to be branded hypocrites, or lazy's lack of understanding of how Nations and the UN work. Or for that matter, what 'Soviet' means.

To make this clear to you, they are NOT Soviets. They're Russians. The word 'Soviet' implies they are the governing body of a socialist (usually communist) group. They are NOT communist anymore.

Well follow my elders information Russia on everyone view is not soviet yes but inside they r still having almost the same government the red had.
Thats wat gonna happen to Vietnam too. They'll declare they r no longer communist in evade the central red but inside they r still the same

What's Georgia got that the federation would like to have??

If The Federation takes over Georgia It can't:

Join NATO... Sell oil out of it's pipeline to whoever it wants. Strive to become democratic.

Let's see.. that would be reason enough to take them back into the fold..

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev stated that armed forces had halted their advance and 'punished' the aggressor (Georgia). Until we know what Georgian forces were doing to the South Ossetians to warrant a Russian 'peace' mission, I'd say the Russians are the aggressors here.

Also, am I alone in cringing when I hear George W. Bush make a speech about democracy? Don't get me wrong, Australia's previous PM was the same, at least in my opinion.

Georgia lost several cities i think

Rather then peace treaties signed, I think its more of 'mutual agreement' between the governments, or rather the Russians (who are in control) stating that they will not advance any further.

Shooting stuff is more fun with real weapons than toy guns.

Costs more though... and since anything we have is perfectly destructible with an air rifle, or carbine currently, I'm good. Lots of rabbits or awol pheasants around here, too.

1- Don't tell ME to stay on topic. While it's true I was at fault; you are the one person here who doesn't have the right to comment, I'm afraid.

2- My comments were far more on topic than simply saying to get on topic. Asking if the topic is a shooting range, while rhetorical, just invites further off-topicness. I am going to ask that the topic is returned to... but I can do that without an actual addition to the topic because it's my job here.
