your proportions in that are remarkably close. just remember that her elbows are as low has her naval and that the lower arm is the same length as armpit to elbow.

i was planning on giving it another shot but with scholl naging about choice's and my (kinda lazy) ambition to learn japanese (which is definetly improving) its a bit tight

ive lost the re-done version of yours, jasper...sorry.
but either way, when i get the time ill try my luck at another.
plus i want to become more 'spontaneous', i.e. not have to re-draw 50 bazillion times to get the proportions right, but that will come with practice.
practice makes perfect.

and also it depend's were you are and what the people are around you(sad sad memories of a perfect yuki drawing being deliberately torn(severly) by someone when it was nearly done

i draw stuff for nearly 2 years and i'm still suck. But im still drawing and practicing. Currently draw a manga and i'm still trying to improve in every day drawing.

To Jasper: you are right about sheer luck, inspiration and motivations but sometime, you'll need to learn how to draw without those thing. I'm trying to that too but its kinda hard. Example: i come home after school and want to sleep(i sleep too much...6 hours a day), i resist the temptation and draw stuff. or something like that. ^^

To Maikeru and many who try to draw: if you want to draw, practice and try to copy the others picture mean while you draw. Dont care about everyone gossip about you so bad or draw not good or trying to steal the other work. To me, every artist always copy from something when they draw. Like young artist draw human body when looking at the real one or picture in magazines, many mangaka also do this (many of them can't draw everything and need assistant, some are poor so they need to copy things such as backgrounds and stuff) So try to go on the nternet and draw whatever you can find that suit you and draw. If you do that, eventually your hand will get the basic and will move on its own when you try to draw something. If you can draw well and have the basic knowledge about drawing stuff then you can start your own drawing without using other people work^^. But sometime, reference does not hurt. Just watch out for copyright issues and keep the copy work to yourself. ^^ good luck.

ha! well when I started learning japanese, my interest in drawing actually grew...


...that could be because some of my lecturers are so bleeding boring that there is ample time to copy a few panels of said favorite manga and practice.

i will start Japanese next year. But i'm still deciding whenever to work in Japan or in US.
