Re: K-ON
One would think that this would hearken to the last episode of Haruhi where Kyon gets dragged by the ear to the music room.. Tambourines anyone??xsirhc wrote:Kyo-ani are at it again for spring 2009 (or autumn as it is here)

Re: K-ON
well, what about the new series of FMA?
I havent read the manga, but have heard its very good (i think that was from you, jasper...). This series, since its a remake, should follow very closely to the original stuff.

Re: K-ON
Well, I just watched the first episode. Although the story was interesting, I was underwhelmed by the art style. The hands and feet were way to small, and the legs were poorly drawn. Honestly, this is disappointing considering how exemplary Kyoani's work has been in the past.

Re: K-ON
i completely agree. character development and story were fine, meaning I'll continue to watch but as the ep went on, the feet and hands thing started to really bug me. Lucky star pulled it off, but this...doesn't. Gets on your nerves since yui is always dancing all over the place, clumsy girl she is. So there are lots of views of tiiiiiiiiiiny tiny feet or hands clasped to chest etc.
When it comes to animation style i guess it all comes down to budget, but like when tasting cheese, dont taste the strongest first before the others. Same with anime, dont watch FMA (with its big budget) with its SUGOI animation and then expect the same from K-ON. My mistake though...
but yeah, the story has lots of potential. I think this is gonna be good.

Re: K-ON
Ok, so i just watched the first two episodes of K-On.
Overall a rather... underwhelming experience.
Though I am now attempting to remove the dust from my guitar.

Re: K-ON
That is a common description of the show... underwhelming.
I find it underwhelming because of the art style and lousy animation. Most others find it underwhelming because of the mediocre story.
And yet, many rabid fans are willing to unconditionally defend the show, merely because it was made by KyoAni and involves music.
Hmm, I don't play guitar, but...

Re: K-ON
im really getting into this series.
its a saturday.
cup of coffee.
raisin toast.
K-ON! ep 4.
Big grin on the face, and suddenly the world is bright and shiny. plus its Anzac day, with parades on the tv. yup, saturdays rule, and with K-ON! 4, the girls have their first training camp. Somewhat predictably, there is lots of moe, but while mio certainly hogs some of the attention, I reckon the other 3 are awesome too. Certainly the yui/ritsu combo of slacking off i found hilarious. and mugi is the quiet achiever with the somewhat convenient villa at the seaside.
i cant get enough of the OP either
and just for kicks, heres the ED too. Animation in this is a bit jerky, mio seems to be having muscle spasms...but meh. still good.

mio is adamant the group plays live at the up and coming school festival, and having found a tape of the previous music club, she feels that they are no where up to par. Cue the villa, seaside, and with yui/ritsu combo, little practicing gets done in this episode.

Re: K-ON
I watched the first 2 episodes yesterday. I quite like it. Its the first anime in ages I've actually been bothered to watch the 2nd episode of. The stories good and, probably because I don't give a crap about the animation, liked the animation. About the only things I hate about it are the genericness of Yui (she's just Tsukasa with brown hair... Mio's fairly generic as well) and Ritsu's Yamaha Hipgig (its a horrible kit. I don't care if its like it for portable purposes). Its good though, other than them problems... If you call the last one a problem.

Re: K-ON
Ep. 5 come and gone.
Sawako was rather amusing, but I'm starting to get the idea that the time is extremely distorted.
We've seen very little of their actual learning and just small snapshots of the more dramatic bits of their time. There seems to be almost no continuity between episodes at all.

Re: K-ON
while I am thoroughly enjoying my saturday mornings with K-on!, I can appreciate that all the characters are pretty shallow. In hindsight, after watching an episode, its pretty clear that this series has very very little plot, has characters with personalities made up from every cute character in every respective anime, and next to no time sense, as jasper pointed out.
but while watching the episode....I couldn't care less. Its funny, light hearted, and certainly is not taking itself too seriously. Fun. All the characters, including yui, seem to have a brief funny moment in the spotlight, although mio and sanako (see below) hog most of it.
in this weeks ep5...nothing much happens really (:P) except the girls find their supervisor in the form of sanako sensei and begin lyric writing.
