My old room was set up so that whenever I was using my PC, my back would be facing the door. My parents and brother were constantly sneaking up behind me, and looking over my shoulder at whatever I was doing. It annoyed the hell out of me.

ok, strange parents ^^' yes i guess being otaku's is not allways a good thing because family are always curious with what we do in out spare time ><

My parents are definitely strange. They're both huge nerds (and Trekkies), but they dismissed my interest in anime as 'silly'. i really don't get how my dad can like Babylon 5 so much, but not like Crest of the Stars.

i would say the same to them ^^' i never really liked star trek at all :/ apart from my parenst trying to (obviously) force me into christianity (sp) they never really bother me....but they still bother me 10/5 and 14/7 :(

Heh... unfortunately... if I smashed a hole in my sister's room it would open to either a drop down the stair or my mother's room. Neither of which would stop her using my room as the hallway.

I find that strange too.. seeing I fit within part of your description (Nerd?) and enjoy Crest ...

I was always told I'd grow out of anime and pokemon and such. Someone once said 'oh it's just a phase some kids go through' and my dad was happy with that.

Guess they were wrong.

I do wonder what my dad's opinion of my crossdressing is. he once threatened to cut my hair off... then spent ages telling me I was gay as an insult.

I think he's eventually got used to me being girly... he even ordered my wig for me.

HA.

I honestly wish people would stop using "gay" as an insult. Denigrating an entire social group is NOT funny.

If I were to crossdress... I think my friends and parents would react with shock at first, but get used to it pretty quickly. They tend to be (relatively) open minded.

I think people turn a blind eye to it, my end.

Whenever I talk about it to my mother she says 'Well don't you want to look like you're crossdressing? It'd be more amusing.'

No mother... I'd rather look like the girl.

so your mother wants you too look gay...that's slightly.....disturbing?

Perhaps she's just open-minded?

No, I think she's just in denial about my preferring to look the other gender.

She'd rather I look like I'm doing it for the lulz.

Well, now that I've finally finished cleaning/decorating my room, I've got some photos to show y'all. FYI, I don't keep my DVDs or manga in my room, so you won't see them.

Click on each pic to see a bigger version.

Image
A panorama of my room. The window opens onto a couple of trees and a parking lot. You can see my cat, Pandora, napping under my makeshift nightstand. Her perch is located in the bottom-left corner of the pic.

Image
A closer view of my bed. This time, Pandora is cleaning herself. The posters are, from left to right: Lyrical Nanoha STRIKERS (obscured), Sky Girls, Sky Girls, Hayate the Combat Butler, Gurren Lagann and FLCL.

Image
A closer view of the wall above the head of my bed.

Image
My computer desk is actually a drafting table my parents bought for me when I was still a graphic design major. It's unconventional, but spacious. :cat_w:

Image
Another view of my computer desk. When I'm using my computer, the keyboard rests on my lap.

Image
The guardians of my Samsung monitor.

Image
The wall above my computer chair. The posters are, starting with the tallest one and going clockwise: Xenosaga, Welcome to the NHK, Higurashi and Welcome to the NHK.

Image
The wall above my computer desk. The poster underneath the map of Japan is from Zero no Tsukaima, and the one to the right is from Princess Mononoke.

Image
My assortment of Rei figures, arranged on my nightstand that's not a nightstand. Yay!

Image
A view of the television at the foot of my bed and my closet. Pandora's perch can again be seen at the bottom of the pic.

Image
My extremely messy closet/storage area. The Christmas decorations are buried in there somewhere...

Image
My Lucky Star posters, and my tower fan at the bottom. In other words, this is the wall of AWESOMENESS.

Image
My assorted Gunpla. From left to right: Zaku II, Zaku II (Black Tri-Stars' colors), Gelgoog, Rick Dom, Zaku II Minelayer, Zaku II.

Image
My Kiddy Grade wallscroll...

Image
...and my Kiddy Grade figures. Lumiere is missing her wineglass. T_T

Image
Isn't it nice when they get the small details right?

Well, I saw this a bit late. -_- I did actually take some pictures on my old mobile of my room, for my Facebook, but that was a few months ago, and the layout has changed somewhat. However, I actually deleted them from my Facebook this. Very. Morning. So, I no longer have them. And the only camera I have is my blurry webcam.
I don't have anime posters. *keeps staring at Ricchan's Princess Mononoke poster.*
Nor do I have figurines.
I feel extremely inferior.
And poor.
My walls are purple and yellow. [I was 14, okay!? I was actually girly then. -_-'] I have a floordrobe. And no TV, as of today. >3<
*sigh*

Hehehe, your room sounds cute, Yui-chan!

If you're looking for good anime posters, I suggest picking up an issue of Megami magazine. Each issue comes with around ten anime posters, each featuring characters (usually female) from the most recent anime. The June issue even has K-ON! posters!

It's kind of a tip, actually. Books = everywhere. Pens. Paper. Nail varnish.

Ooh. *clicks link*

O_O Why have I never heard of this magazine before?!

>_< And why don't I have any money? *sigh*
