This is what I have to start with:

It's just being built on the freewebs site currently, but I'll install dreamweaver or somesuch and do my own layouts etc eventually. (Actually rather soon, no doubt as the way it's done on the site is irritating as hell. I'd rather work with a BLANK slate, like you used to have it, thankyou freewebs.)

I plan to just post random crap on it and I'll update this topic when there's anything of interest.

If I post anything NSFW it'll be in a section of it's own, so it's safe.

Humm Interesting however you might want to make sure you have a copyright protection in place least your work wind up all over the net..

As far as obtaining copyright protection, I suggest using a free Creative Commons License, like the one this site is registered under. All you have to do is post the license on the copyright page of your site. In your case, I would suggest an Attribution Non-Commercial Share Alike License, or something similar.

I need to find the page for simply editing the css before i do anything else.

To add any more to the page you have to add a content box... which looks nasty.

Ok, so I decided the style was ugly as sin... I'm moving across to a wordpress-based site too. Far less hassle to do anything.

Ugly as sin seems to describe the latest offerings ..
The people who design these packages must be either very depressed or bored as hell..

wordpress certainly has better themes and easily modified too, as long as your in the know with all that coding crap.

what would you get for your $9? I really like the idea of working on a website, but you need a group of friends to support it as well, as a community based thing, because the hard fact is that there are millions of blogger websites out there probably talking about the same topics. A group interest and contribution will sustain the site until, hopefully, people from the outside start taking notice. Assuming that you have something to draw them in...

Actually, that's a good point. If you're just looking for somewhere to post photos and write about yourself, you might be better of starting a blog. If you want to make a forum, there are plenty of free forum websites available. What is your goal behind creating a website?

Imma use it for art and stuffs. Personally the doman name itself (which'll be an awesome thing to have...it'll be so satisfying) is probably worth the $9 a year.

If it's just for art, wouldn't it be better to just stick with your DeviantArt account? You can use SheezyArt for the stuff that gets deleted for copyright reasons...
