Project Haruhi

What are some good anime with a futuristic theme (no robots though) or with some kind of pirates? I need to know some good anime with either a futuristic theme and/or an anime about pirates besides one piece. Can be anything that takes place in the air as well but I don't want to watch another anime about robots. There are way to many of those.

Space Pirate Captain Harlock and the Legend Of The Galactic Heroes, are the two that come to mind.

They're kind of old though.
