Lucky Star

Has anyone seen this? It's made by Kyoto Animation, the same group who made Haruhi, the main character is voiced by Aya Hirano (Haruhi's seiyuu), and had tons of references to the show, even going so far as to have some of the characters do the Hare Hare Yukai dance in one episode.

Any Haruhi fan owes it to themselves to check this show out, as it feels like the perfect compliment to the show.

I was introduced to Lucky Star (and Haruhi for that matter) at Otakon a week and a half ago and enjoyed it, but now that I'm really watching it by myself, I'm catching all the references and whatnot, which enriches the experience. I'm watching episode 7 right now.

I love this show, just finished watching eps 16 yesterday. prob the best eps yet. I think the best part is the cafe seen. The way Kagami and Konata interact is the best, one of the best character elements I've seen in an anime for a long time. there are only 24 or 26 planed eps  So I hope theres a second season. The way the series is going it looks like there going to finish high school by the end, so maybe 12 or 24 eps run in college or something would be good.

After watching 17 and 18 I am now convinced that this series will be a run away hit.
It's appeal to all ages and demographics is astounding

I got it, my kids got it, even Duncan got it...

Eh, I'd be inclined to give that title to Welcome to the NHK! or Hayte no Gotoku

However, 23 was pretty awesome.

I watched a couple eps,but I'm just getting around to the rest of it now. An anime centered largely around a girl who watches and talks of anime alot. How post-modern.

For those interested A.F.K. has finally subbed the entire series ... Get them before it's licensed...

Yeah that Girl who Leapt thru time movie (Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo) is also listed and I dont think thats been liscenced yet either. Maybe just trying to make pages for their japanese properties in order to get liscenced by somebody. I dont think Kadokawa usually publishes stuff by themselves

And on the topic of Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo, watch it.

They had it right on their page: "Lucky Star is licensed."

So, if it isn't licensed... well, they're just lying. I'm well aware of the controversy surrounding the announcement, but for now I'm assuming it to be true.

BANDAI ENTERTAINMENT INC. TO RELEASE KADOKAWA’S ANIME SERIES, LUCKY STAR!

November 6, 2007 (Cypress, CA) – Kadokawa Pictures USA, Inc. and Bandai Entertainment Inc., announced today that it will be releasing the anime series Lucky Star in North America in 2008. The announcement was made in a unique way – a surprise trailer at the beginning of Vol. 4 of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, which was just released.

Lucky Star is a 24 episode television series from Kyoto Animation, the same anime production company that created the anime series for Haruhi. Lucky Star’s main character is Konata Izumi, a lazy high school girl who isn’t interested in anything besides anime and video games. The series is described as the ultimate “otaku anime,” -- it pays tribute to anime culture and other series with in-jokes and hilarious references.

“We are pleased to continue our relationship with Kadokawa Pictures USA and release Lucky Star. It is a very funny series and fans are in for a treat,” said Bandai Entertainment Inc. President Ken Iyadomi.

Like Haruhi, Lucky Star has a fantastic soundtrack and the songs and music have been very popular in Japan. “There is a Lucky Star dance, like Haruhi, and at a recent con, we saw it being performed by U.S. fans, so here we go again,” added Bandai Marketing Director Robert Napton.

Lucky Star will be released in 2008, with exact dates to be announced shortly.

This should be entertaining

*watches it*

guess not... won't play >.>

EDIT: Having finally opened it with VLC player (damn flash)...

Nice choice of part... but... tis a little dull for an ad. Had I not seen the series before I'd think it was a letdown.

YES! Go watch it... then CLANNAD... That'll keep you busy until Haruhi S2... supposedly. I'm currently DYING OF BOREDOM. I get CLANNAD and Bleach every week... I just finished rewatching Full Metal Alchemist. I crave more!

I'm getting desperate since I finish college for the winter holidays next weekend =/
