Gunslinger Girl's Second Season Officially Announced

The October issue (on sale August 21) of Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh officially announced that a second season of the Gunslinger Girl anime series will be produced. The Japanese magazine runs Yu Aida's original manga that inspired the anime.

The production company Marvelous Entertainment had revealed that a sequel was in the works in its 2006-2007 financial report on May 30, but the company then edited the report to remove the Gunslinger Girl reference in early June. Source: Ultimatum

First DVD release from the latest anime adaptation of hit manga "Gunslinger Girl - II Teatrino." Behind the smooth veneer of charity organization Social Welfare Agency lies a hidden agenda, to give dying girls a mechanical body with certain strings attached--to use the body to fight for government. Each girl gets a male handler that escorts them along on missions with the two given the title of "Fratello," or brothers. With their life memories locked away, the girls obey the orders of their fratello, take guns in their hands, and fight . . . an overall happy life. Season two tells the story of Triela and Pinocchio's fate and the war between Social Welfare Agency and the Movimento Delle Cinque Repubbliche. Disc one includes episodes 1. Limited edition includes three-bromide set and bonus disc with Italian travel footage, credit less outro theme, and character music video (Henrietta).

While its good to see some updated news on GSG 2 that almost makes the SWA look sinister. :? Still it sounds like they are going to follow the manga fairly close with turning the storyline on to Triela's arch. That should make for a good season/story. That arch gives a lot more insight into the conditioning and the psyche of the girls/cyborgs and their relationships with their handlers. Although I thought there was mention of there being at least one female handler in the series... I could be wrong. :?

Well seeing as how Manga Vol 6 (which intro's Petra) was only just released here in the states I have to wonder if they won't included her stroy arch into the S2 anime.

Ok.. :(
I'm about half way through the first episode of Gunslinger Girl Il Teatrino (Gunslinger Girl Season 2) and I must say that I am sorely disappointed. :( :( :(
 The animation quality has dropped a lot. ... and I mean a lot.. I seriously wonder if it was done here in America. Yes its that bad. I wasn't impressed with the intro either.. but figured it would just take some getting used to.. :? but after seeing the animation quality my hopes for a great season 2 are starting to slip away... I can only pray it gets better.... :( :( :( :( :(
