Try Kino no Tabi/Kino's Journey.
It's nothing like TMOHS... It's epic, though.
It would be helpful if you told us what you have watched and enjoyed in the past.

Naruto *shudder*
Ignoring my distaste for Naruto...
Seen Death Note, Shakugan no Shana or Kanon?
I suggest watching those and Kino no Tabi before anything else :3

Kino No Tabi seems interesting, but I'm just not having any luck finding episode one.

Full Metal Alchemist (either series, but a remake is airing at the moment) is most awesome and I recommend it
Great Teacher Onizuka is iconic,
Samurai Champloo is also iconic
Ive run out of time...but ANN them to find out if your interested

If you liked both Naruto and Haruhi, I suggest you try Yakitate!! Japan. It's a shounen parody show, so it has a lot of meta-humor like Haruhi, but it's also a pretty darn good show. It's fast-paced, frequently hilarious, and the characters that are supposed to be charming almost always are. I'd argue that it's a much better shounen show than many of the shounen shows it parodies.
And if you need more to convince you after reading the ANN summary AND my recommendation, there's always the second ending sequence.

Elfen Lied is pretty good... but it is a bit gory.

Eh...I probably wouldn't go with the anime version unless you're desperate. The characterizations are better in the video game. Plus, the anime added some pretty dumb fanservice scenes. [NSFW due to language]lazysunside wrote: Valkyra Chronicle.
I don't like to be the "the original is clearly better!" guy, but it's difficult for me NOT to be for this series.

The sad thing is, the game wasn't very good as well. Suffered too much from the repetitive nature games have these days.Stilts wrote:Eh...I probably wouldn't go with the anime version unless you're desperate. Anyways, considering you like a fair bit of shonen stuff, I've been watching Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Its good. Lots of random stuff and giant robots in it.
