I can't wait for S2. I'm hoping/expecting it to be better than S1, in fact.

Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody and the Disappearance/Vanishment are two awesome stories, which are clearly gonna be in S2. Personally, novel-wise, I thought the Disappearance was the best novel hands down, especially for character development of 2 certain Brigade members.

Now, I don't remember where, but I could've sworn I saw someplace that said that S2 would have double the episodes from S1 (aka, 28 episodes total). I wish I knew where, so I could back up my claim with some evidence. Anyway, if it's 28 episodes, then there's a lot of short stories they can fit in. Specifically Endless Eight, Charmed at First Sight LOVER, and maybe even Cold Mountain Syndrome (though that could make a good OVA).

I'm thinking that there's only going to be 4 seasons. S1 we know covered the Melancholy and a bunch of short stories. S2 will likely cover Bamboo Leaf, Disappearance, and even more short stories. S3 will probably have the Melancholy of Asahina Mikuru, maybe that novel with "Michiru", and cover the rest of the little stories. S4, in my opinion, will probably have no short stories, and only deal with the events of novels 9 and 10 (Sasaki, the Canopy Domain, etc.)

Actually... 'Charmed at first sight LOVER' would be a nice little one methinks. Snow Mountain Syndrome seems to be a big part of Kuyoh's background... no OVA for that methinks.

Usually, it's 24 or 26 episodes, not 28

Air = 13 (least... that's what i have)
SHnY = 14
Kanon = 24
CLANNED = 24 (eventually)
Lucky*Star = 24

...I get the idea it'll be 24 =p

Id say 28 is posible, after all we had 14 for the first sesson.
12, 13,24,26 are just to boring we need 28.

I kinda agree, there is a chance the second season is going to be 14 eps, adding the two would result in 28. Although I don't see much 28ep Anime rolling around so it's a slim chance.

I doubt it'll be 24eps total however, othewise the second season will only be 10 eps long.

Please don't post important information without being clear :?

My current understanding of the situation is that there won't be a full-fledged "season," but rather an adaptation of Disappearance only. I do not know for a fact that this is correct, and I was waiting until I'd figured out exactly what was going on before making a post on it, but... well, yeah. So, I'm in wait-and-see mode on this.

Does anyone know where the data for this new development actually spawned from?

Since the new 'series' will have been completed some time around the Lucky Star release.... I'm not so sure they'd change everything now.

There's a note on the official site stating that there will not be a second season, but there will be an adaptation of the fourth novel. Since we can't know exactly what this means (it could mean absolutely nothing), I was hesitant to even bring it up until we know something concrete.

We could attack their legs if need be... It won't affect them too much and they'll still be able to do another. Here's hoping they will make a full series. It just wouldn't be right if it wasn't one.

Indeed. I could do with more to occupy my time. Full Metal Panic hasn't caught my interest yet... and I'd rather start from ze beginning (however hard that may be)... so I doubt i'll be watching it adter Haruhi. This Haruhi has to last AS LONG AS POSSIBLE!
