i found some value though the long repetition, i won't go into detail, but there probebly trying to get across how painful it was for nagato(but on a smaller scale), and make you as happy/supprised with the repetition stoping as the other members (again points a nagato). i could be wrong, like i always am, but thats just what i think.

episode 9 would be dull as hell with out atleat 5 repeats.

As for the rest... I fail to see how it would be dull without the repeats. If you really think that's the case then the arc has failed even further, in that it requires mind-numbingly boring repetition just to make the last episode worth seeing at all.

I have the RAW and am watching I type.

1/3 of the way in (OP included) and... uh... I can honestly say I have no idea what this episode is going to actually be about. But i do spy winter uniforms.

EDIT 2: It is... it really is. I can't believe they'd take us straight from one over-long and boring arc to the only other one. What's more this episode has, from what i see watching the RAW, practically no interesting content at all, after the OP.

I can't see there being enough missed out from the actual Episode 00 aired in the first season... but at the rate of this week's addition... Sighs may well take up 3 episodes.

Note to self: STOP WATCHING THE RAWS!

But if we only have 2/4 episodes to go... there isn't going to BE the disappearance arc, which the series is named by.

I'm beginning to wonder if this isn't going to be 24 episodes or more. Or if, in the spirit of the arc, Endless Eight will actually only be counted as one episode.

See, it's still called "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya", just like the first show. It's not really a second season... it's just filling in all the chronological gaps left by the first season. That's why it will probably end with Sighs, which occurs right before The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina 00 in chronological order.

Ergo, the most likely outcome is that we won't see Disappearance for some time. Rumor has it Kyoani is animating it right now... but rumors are usually wrong.

I doubt they'd make us wait another 3 years really... and I believe that nothing else has been announced by Kyo-Ani. The idea that they'd just be sat there doing nothing when a second season, 'The disappearence of Suzumiya Haruhi,' has previously been announced is rather dumb. They'll certainly be working on SOMETHING at the moment.

Waaiit a second... so season one has been pushed up to 26/28 episodes? I wonder if that would directly affect the episode count of the second season when it DOES come.

So its almost over, eh? If season 3 is even on the horizon, I hope the lead director/producers somehow get lost and do not have anything to do with its production. Otherwise we are going to wait another 2-3 years, and only then get a disjointed product with under-par animation. Yay for pessimism...and there is no Bakemonogatari this week

You mean season 2? Season 2 was advertised as Disappearance. Where in this lot of new episodes has there been a disappearance arc? I think we can probably count this as Season 1, chapter 2.

We never had advertisements for this, so it can't be the season 2.

I still maintain that whoever masterminded this current series, filling in the gaps or whatever, needs a real kick up the backside. And not be allowed near the disappearance arc. Or any other series. Ever.

Falling sales can be blamed on the internet, but we all know that if this is the kind of treatement (EE times 8, no advertisement, low budget animation) to expect from kyo-ani, then soon things are going to be much much worse. A season two has to appeal to a fanbase, and with EE it has been erroded, big time.

“Something is going to happen! Look forward to it!” is their promise.

The rag goes on sale on the 17th, so doubtless it will be leaked and either defiantly shredded or covered in grateful fluids by 2ch before then.

With Newtype being the loyal tool of Kadokawa in all its marketing shenanigans, who knows what the announcement will constitute; the Endless Eight movie perhaps…

Meh, that's nothing new. We endured three years of "SOMETHING BIG IS COMING! OMG IT'S GOING TO BE HUGE!" since S1 aired, only to be repeatedly disappointed.
