Re: The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
Okay we have some sketches up on the frontpage, seems the art designs will be more in line of the first series. This is a good thing.

So... do you cut them out and glue them on your wall or something?

No, that would be odd... it's the concept art.

Re: The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
Ah, I see. Well it looks good so far, but I do have to agree with Xsirhc in that something more meaty (like an animated trailer perhaps?) would be nicer!

Re: The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
yea, i see your point.
it should have focused more on the actual disappearance or haruhi. not the paralell universe.
but it's a trailer, thats good enough for me ^^
also besides, yuki with shy emotion and glasses is the cutest (fictional)person ive ever seen

Re: The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
Yeah it did give away alot, didn't it. Then again, the people who will be watching it will probably already know the story line, such that kyo-ani doesn't need to hold anything back. There would be no point anyway, as you can find an overview to Disappearance on ANN or Wikipedia.

It didn't give away that much. In fact, unless you already know the story, that trailer gave away almost nothing (aside from the return of Ryoko).

Re: The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
Cheers xsirhc!
As to the content of the trailer, I'm agreeing with Ryoko, as it really doesn't explain anything (unlike some woeful, woeful trailers I've seen at the cinemas [Avatar and Salt in particular]) of the fragments that are given of the plot (but since when does Kyon get thrown through a window? I don't remember that happening.) However, in my opinion they probably didn't need to show the dart gun or the returning Ryoko, but that's just me.
I am rather pleased at the quality of everything that is being presented, it is quite an achievement for something that has only been in production since August. It also seems that some of the character designs seem to draw more closely from the original 2006 series(I think Yuki in particular) while others seem to be closer to the K-On! style (Mikuru) which seems kind of odd but... Kyon's facial expressions? Wow!

Re: The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
I disagree. The whole Yuki part is kinda spoiled by it, in my opinion, since they showed her blushing and looking quite timid. I'd think it would have been enough to simply show her in her glasses, if they wished to raise curiosity.Ryoko wrote:It didn't give away that much. Re: The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
I was wondering about that myself. Haruhi celebrates anything and everything... I should expect that Christmas is just as valid as Tanabata, but I can't help wondering if we don't get one for ourselves.
Sadly Maikeru, neither of the dates you suggested are actually stated in the novels. Those would be the prime choices though.
OOH! Maybe we should make the date of the first novel release in Japan our holiday?

Re: The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
maybe some kind of celebration to thank kyon and/or celebrate the banishment on the endless loop of time.
it's stated in date, September the first, and seems worthy of "celebration" or something of the ilk, especially as it even made us depressed in reality.
that's a big achievement.

Re: The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
there is small evidence that suggest's she might have become God on the 7th July 2007 (07/07/07)

Re: The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
She would have become 'god' 3 years before she entered highschool so it couldn't have been 2007.
2004 maybe.

Re: The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
Well sure, it plays on Feb 6th, but for those of us who don't live in Japan, it's as good as non-existent until someone manages to make a subbed version of it (which could be an indefinite amount of time). Re: The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
Really? I thought unless someone records the movie in-theater with a secret camera (which is generally illegal), you'd have to wait for a DVD to be released before you could sub it. Is this not the case?
I'm really not that knowledgeable on how Japanese screenings work.
