Bakacast – A Certain Scientific Coppelion

Megan was busy with unavoidable real-world responsibilities, so that left just Larry and I to tackle this weeks episodes.

And tackle them we did, almost literally in some cases. While most shows maintained the level of quality we saw in their first episodes, Kill La Kill and (especially) Kara no Kyoukai left bad tastes in our metaphorical mouths.

We may have dropped three shows last episode, but those were quickly replaced by new ones airing for this one. Turns out this season might be pretty busy for us.

Which I suppose in a good thing. But it also means less time playing Pokemon. I have to breed the perfect team, guys.

This podcast is late because OH GOD SO MUCH HOMEWORK AND A FINAL EXAM FOR A REALLY SHORT ONLINE CLASS AAAAAAAAAH!

Though, if I’m completely honest, the new Pokemon just came out, and it’s really hard to resist the siren song of Mega Charizard X.

Anyway, welcome to our first episode for the fall 2013 season. We review a fair number of shows and actually don’t drop very many of them. Incredible! We might actually have a decent number of good shows this time.

Bakacast – Let’s Just Talk About Macross

It’s the final week of the summer season, and the whole gang is here to close it out.

And while we certainly have a lot to say about the anime we, you know, actually watched, we eagerly take the first opportunity given to us by our listener questions to spend God knows how long talking about Macross. Because we will never get tired of talking about Macross.

Of course, as soon as I decide to actually get productive and release these things in a timely fashion, I’m hit by a fever so bad I can’t even work up the energy to sit at a computer and talk for an hour.

Thankfully, I recovered a couple days later, well in time to record something this Wednesday. Megan was unable to make it, but Aaron was kind enough to fill in for her on Titan, Monogatari, Gatchaman and–of course–Kara no Kyoukai.

And in case you’re wondering, I did actually finish Juniper’s Knot before the podcast. I just forgot to actually mention it. I will do so next week.

Occasionally, when the stars align and the phase of the moon is just right, I’ll stop being lazy and get these things out before all the reviews are outdated.

This is one of those times.

On this episode of Bakacast, I totally forget to finish Juniper’s Knot. Whoops! I, uh, will try and get it done for the next recording.

We do, however, remember to review the next KaraKyou OVA–and just like we expected–it leaves a significantly better impression on us than the first.

On this episode of Bakacast, we finally review the first episode of Kara no Kyoukai and talk at length about the wonders of Netflix (and the many, many shows I feel compelled to watch).

Oh, also, Megan and I talk about Analogue and Hate Plus.

A lot.

Dang. It took me ten days to post this. Sure would be nice to have a vampire buddy who could use time travel powers.

In my defense, I just started college again and I’m still working around 30 hours a week, so my schedule’s been a bit full. That said, I’ll do my best to get the next podcast out much sooner.

Yet another album art courtesy of our friend Kenneth Alexander. And thanks to serendipitous timing, it actually fits with the stuff we talk about this week.

We skipped Monogatari this week due to it being a clip show, but the rest of the shows continue their fairly predictable trends. Well, except for our retro review. Yes, for the first time in Bakacast history, we dropped a retro review. And what will replace it? You’ll have to listen to find out.

Or just, like, use the timestamps, I guess.
