Stupid sexy Kircheis.

Sorry for the long delay on this one. Normally I like to keep a bit of space between episode uploads, but this one was so late I’ll just suck it up and put up the next one tomorrow.

Sure is a lot of body mutilation going on in Kill La Kill these days. Is DC Comics writing the episodes now?

Megan wasn’t able to catch up on the shows, but she does join us for the listener question segment. And what a long and strange segment that was.

Bakacast – Let’s Finally Be Brief Again

Well, it seems I’ve switched XML sources and nothing has blown up yet. That’s good news. Some of the very early episodes (we’re talking, like, the first five pre-weekly-review Bakcasts plus the first handful of Bakacast Brief episodes) are not in the feed yet due to Libsyn shenanigans, but it’s a pretty easy fix.

Anyway, this week’s episode is pretty short, partly because Megan wasn’t with us (due to unavoidable circumstances) and partly because Larry and I were feeling pretty tired. As a result, these are probably some of the shortest reviews we’ll ever do on Bakacast. We also decided to skip listener questions this week so Megan wouldn’t miss them. I mention this in the podcast itself, but I suppose it bears repeating: if you posted a comment before the evening of February 10th, we totally saw it. We just decided to delay answering it.

Bakacast – Nobunaga the Dull

bakanobunagadull

Space Julius Caesar is completely wasted on this show.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Back when we first started Bakacast, I had been manually editing and uploading an XML doc to Project Haruhi’s server, which Feedburner would then turn into an RSS feed. I am really getting sick of doing this. So as of this episode, I’m having Feedburner target the XML file that Libsyn automatically creates whenever I publish a podcast. This shouldn’t change anything about recent podcasts, though older ones will lose the “clever” subtitles and descriptions I gave them (until I update those fields in their Libsyn entries). Also, since the only RSS URL I give out is the Feedburner one, no one should have to resubscribe to a different feed. You might see duplicated episodes in iTunes, though (I’ve had this happen to me for other podcasts I listen to). If anything straight-up breaks for you, let me know via comment or e-mail.

How dreamy is Yang? So dreamy.

We don’t review quite as many shows this time (partly due to dropping things and partly due to me straight-up not having enough time); but we still manage to clock in at about two hours, because we’re terrible at time management. Also, we talk about the Mushi-shi OVA, which makes it one of the few OVAs we’ve actually reviewed in a timely fashion.

Oh, and Megan and I talk about a video game: Gone Home. We totally spoil it, so you should probably skip ahead (or just buy it already) if you haven’t played it yet.

I hope you like my voice, because you’re gonna get a lot of it.

On this episode, we add a handful of the shows that aired on the second week of the winter season. Or, more specifically, I watched them; because hey, why not? Turns out they mostly weren’t worth the effort. On the upside, I watched Hamatora, which was a hell of a thing.

On a scale of ridiculousness that goes from Mushi-shi to Aquarion EVOL, Nobunaga the Fool is approximately equal to a Star Driver.

Not a whole lot of winter shows had aired when we recorded this, but we at least got off to a fairly strong start with the few shows we were able to watch. In a completely unexpected twist, even Noragami was fairly good. However, in a NOT completely unexpected twist, Nobunagun wasn’t really worth the 24 minutes it took to watch.

Bakacast – Stop Being Tsundere

Hey, happy Five-Days-After-New-Year, everybody!

I come bearing two podcast gifts. The first is this episodes, obviously, where Larry and I give our final judgements on the anime that’s finished this season. Plus, we choose our personal anime of the year.

The second podcast is one I recently started with a friend of mine from the Penny Arcade forums. It’s called Anime is for Jurps. I’m hosting it off-site and on a separate RSS feed for two reasons: one) neither of us is 100% certain we’ll manage to make it a regular thing and two) we swear a lot. When Larry started Project Haruhi, he wanted to keep it PG-13. I intend to respect that wish (the few times I’ve let R-rated cursing slip through into Bakacast were accidents resulting from laziness), so I don’t want our explicit language to get mixed into the same feed as Bakacast.

Oh, and this video might be helpful for understanding the title.
