Well, so much for having a cool fight scene, huh? I guess the male protagonist will have to do all the work. As usual.

Megan’s phone wasn’t updating its email app properly, so she never saw our recording schedule. Hopefully the problem won’t repeat itself and she’ll be back with us for the next episode. In the meantime, we bring back the What’cha Been Doin’ segment to talk a bit about Macross and Fire Emblem.

If vampire horses catch on, the next season of My Little Pony might be subtitled “Blood is Magic. It goes without saying that we’d review it.

On this episode of Bakacast, we breeze through the (mostly positive) reviews–briefly lingering on JoJo’s to again discuss how amazing it is–and deal with our backlog of listener questions. I also decide to sprinkle in listener comments with the review segments when appropriate, which is something I probably should have been doing a long time ago.

Better late than never, I suppose.

Look, I know you’re basically swimming in bat poop right now and leeches as big as dogs are falling from the ceiling, but this is easy mode.

The real Dark Souls Shin Sekai Yori starts when you get to Anor Londo.

Sorry for the unexpected hiatus, everyone. We tried to get a recording done last week, but all three of us had our own, unique real life complications that made getting all of us on Skype at the same time impossible.

In light of the recent events in Yuusha, Megan makes a compelling argument.

Though what would help the show more is some competent writing. The Hero is a symptom not the problem.

Once again, Kenneth Alexander has provided us with album art to use for the podcast. Thanks, dude!

Unfortunately, Megan was feeling sick when we recorded this and was unable to join us. Being one host down does, however, give her more sample cases to use to prove her hypothesis that the length of a typical Bakacast episode can be determined by adding half an hour for each host. So far that idea is looking pretty sound.

Anyway, a bunch of heavy stuff happened in most of the shows this week, but I think we can all agree that the most important thing was the reveal of Robo-Stroheim.

Bakacast – Let Me Tell You About Cyberpunk

Oh, hi, I didn’t see you there.

Allow me to introduce myself: I am the lead writer of the popular Japanese animation known as “Psycho-Pass.” It’s a pretty good show, huh? Anyway, I just thought I should take some time to let you know that the ideas presented in the anime are not completely original. Shocking, I know, but even my brilliance has limits, so I do occasionally read what other writers do and take inspiration from that.

For example, have you ever heard of a little movie called Blade Runner? It’s based off a story by a man named Philip K. Dick. It’s fairly obscure, so you’ve probably never heard of it; but trust me, it’s good.

Actually, you know what? I liked it so much that I think as many people as possible should be made aware of its existence. So I’ll go ahead and write my recommendation into an episode of my anime. Smart idea, right? Yeah, I know. That’s why I get to work on awesome projects like this instead of settling for the latest 4-koma adaptation.

Bakacast – Ruining Traditional Marriage

Fellow Internet denizens, I have a question: is this what you want?

Because when you vote for equal rights, this is what you’re gonna get. Our churches will be filled with half-naked megalomaniacs double-marrying another man’s artery, and it will all be your fault. And aside from the moral corruption that will inevitably fill the streets, you’re essentially smacking normal, loving couples in the face. The relationships my video game characters and I have with each other are special and required a lot of long nights studying legal loopholes; and when I think about how immortal proto-vampires can just waltz in and do the same thing, it cheapens the whole ritual for reasons I can’t adequately explain but know must be true because Rush Limbaugh told me so.

So when you sit down to watch your weekly anime, remember that true love is between a man and his waifu.

The culling has begun, and very few shows survived.

Thankfully, the ones that did make it past the first week at least give us plenty to discuss…assuming we can ever actually keep ourselves on topic.

We usher in the Winter season with our good friend Scamp, who most of you probably remember writes for The Cart Driver. We drop most of the new shows immediately, but a few entertain us enough to stick around for at least a couple more weeks. Also, since we had so many shows to watch this week, we decided to wait to start our retro review of Mushi-shi until next episode.

Normally this is where I’d post timestamps, but there are a bunch of shows and I kinda lost track of where all of them were in the recording. So, just this once, it’s gonna be a simple list of everything we talked about in order.
