Halo Anime Annouced

Some of Japan’s most prestigious studios, including Toei, Production I.G. and Studio 4°C have announced their participation in a Halo anime project called Halo Legends. This anthology series will feature stories from various parts of Halo’s backstory, including “the history of the Spartan warrior class” and “the entire 100,000 year history of the Halo universe”. This project seems extremely similar to previous multi-studio collaberations like The Animatrix and Batman: Gotham Knight, both of which Studio 4°C participated in.

Harry Potter Cast vs. Genki Girl

Celebrities visiting Japan have always had to deal with some pretty wacky stuff, and the Harry Potter stars are certainly no strangers to unusual promotional stunts. However, nothing I’ve seen tops this video of a Japanese fan meeting Rupert Grint (Ron Weasly).

AKB48 On Music Fighter

Japanese theater/pop group AKB48 recently appeared on Music Fighter, and did a live version of their new single Namida Suprise. Although the singing isn’t quite as good as the PV version, it does feature some nice dancing… and lots of cute girls.

Additionally, there is now a version of Namida Suprise with poorly done subtitles, which can be found here.

Kyoani Responds to Yamakan

Yutaka Yamamoto’s thoughts on Endless Eight, which found there way onto Youtube last weekend, have elicited a response from Kyoto Animation. Essentially, they deny that Yamakan ever had anything to do with Endless Eight. Their attitude can best be summed up in this quote.

This person has absolutely nothing to do with our company.

Kyoani is also claiming that Kadokawa is the primary influence behind the current E8 arc. I’m guessing this is just the beginning of the finger pointing…

SOS Brigade Greenscreen Challenge

Image

What can YOU do with the SOS Brigade Seitenkan’s greenscreen photos? This is your chance to show us! Here’s how the contest works…

Rules:

1. Using the greenscreen photos as a starting point, you must create a new image featuring all four brigade members. You can stick them on a spaceship, or have them floating on a raft at sea… it’s up to you! You can use Photoshop, GIMP, Painttool Sai, or whatever program you desire to modify the images. Be as creative as possible!
2. All entries must be submitted by the contest deadline of August 3rd, 12:00 AM Eastern.
3. Post your final entry in the forum thread, in the form of a JPEG or PNG image. If your image is wider than 640 pixels, provide a link to the full-size image. Only one entry per user… but you can change your entry all you like up until the contest deadline. Keep it PG-13.
4. The winning image will be chosen by our administrator, Shamisen, and will be featured on Project Haruhi’s front page.

That about sums it up. Have fun, everyone!
