I know at least one resident of this forum will be idolizing you! And it easy to see why…

From Neon Genesis Evangelion, this figure by Bandai/KaNa depicts Mari Illustrious Makinami in her extremely hot pink test plugsuit. First impressions are that, yes, this figure is quite the awesome. Alluring pose, suit colour and she is wearing glasses~!! Yet unfortunately there are niggles…

Closer inspection of the photos seems to highlight the crude joints between her legs and hips (seen from the back), but this probably could be explained away by the plugsuit design. However, where her neck meets her plugsuit is, sadly, a poor quality join as it is not flush with the suit, as a neck should be…

Also the complex design of the plugsuit makes me wonder if the entire figure torso is one piece, or a myriad of different pieces. Reason being that the first photo of Mari seems to show bits sticking out on her chest (I am not being crude), especially the black highlights, suggesting yet more ill fit. Despite this, there is a limit to how much you can analyze closeup photos of figures for blemishes. Not until the figure is in front of you is it really possible to decide on the quality and design.

The full body shot completely undermines my annoyances, because from a slight distance you certainly are not going to notice neck joints or other blah blah. All you see is a very VERY nice figure of a girl in a plugsuit…wearing glasses~!! I have also been told that this is the prototype version, so hopefully the retail version is more refined.

Of course, there is also the schoolgirl version:

1/8th scale Emotion style plugsuit Mari Illustrious Makinami is due out in September, retailing from 5000 yen. Schoolgirl version is already released and is available from 3100 yen.
