It was at this moment that all life in the universe unanimously decided “F*** it,” and offed themselves.

  • It’s not that bad.

    • Kei

      My sarcasm detector just exploded.

  • Why? Asks Jon…
    I say… Why not?
Bandai has a track record for doing the unusual; dubbing K-On!, sure why not.
May be their next great effort will be HSotD. (Heh!)

Ritsu and Mio don’t sound bad! Yui… Yui has yet to impress me. was there any Mugi at all?

Bang Zoom keeps making great quality dubs. I hope one day they can match the high bar set by Chaos Wars. Not that anyone who will buy K-on would get it for a dub anyways. I mean, I don’t think there would be any right way to dub K-on without making the characters even more annoying then they are.

    • You won’t believe how many times I sat through that dub just to get a good laugh.
I have to hand it to the guy, for just grabbing his family and friends to record a game with an assemble of notable characters… that took some balls.

  • It doesn’t even sound lioe she is trying.

  • You know what?
I can’t even think of anything to say…
This blew my mind, not in a good way of course. ๐Ÿ˜

….because you touch yourself at night.

  • Ritsu sounds okay, but Yui sounds like what her 5 year old (English) self should sound like…
Is that Stephine Sheh? She really is one of my favorite voice actors, so I won’t made a call till I see an entire scene.

and lol at the 15 second logo spot at the end.

    • Yui’s Japanese voice sounded like what her 5-year-old self should sound like, too.

  • quigonkenny

And nothing of value was lost…

  • Whut? Maybe it’s because I’ve been watching a load of early 90’s dubbed OVA’s, but that sounded fine to me. English VA’s haven’t figured out how to do moe yet and frankly, this sounds better than many of their previous attempts.

    • I don’t mean to sound like sour sport, but English VA’s will never be able to do moe. 99% of people who speak English can’t do cutesy voices and when someone tries it it sucks. The dub sounded fine to me, even if it tkaes away from the moe aspect.

      • You’re wrong, of course. There will always be SOMEONE. They just don’t look hard enough.

        Voice Actors should be conscripted.

  • ojisan

No. No. Oh god. They sound like they’re reading the script for the first time.

  • why does this sound like it’s one of those lazy 80’s dubs…no just no this dub does not do this show any favours or any justice watch it as was intended via subs somethings heard cannot be unheard aagghhh

  • Ahahahahaha. I really like how suddenly it goes into singing with original voices and gets OH SO MUCH BETTER in milliseconds.

This is gonna be something worth seeing bits of just to giggle at.

  • Ryu

    how fitting

  • Oh god! This dub is just… painful… There is no way this is going to have a decent dub…

  • Vic

This happens just when I thought I could sleep soundly at night XD

Ah well, I can’t say it was unexpected though. Ever since Yen Press bought the license for the series, something within this level was bound to happen. I wonder if the next step is for big North American stations, like Adult Swim, will actually broadcast it? I’m sure I’ll be laughing uncontrollably by it (I’ll also be pissed at the fact that I still haven’t seen much broadcasting from other big bandai-licensed series like haruhi much, but whatev.). I haven’t even bothered to see the original series dub so I’ll take the fans opinion for now.

  • Man this is terrible. I sensed its horribleness even before I watched it!

By the way, what did you guys thought of the first season of K-ON? I missed your pod casts and reviews of the show. Personally I loved both seasons as much as I loved Azumanga (I know you guys would disagree with this)

  • Unicorn1799

You want to hear a bad dub, watch anything done by Animax. In fact, why not watch Animex K-On season 2?
Besides the usual eye roll worthy comments by sub watchers, I am not seeing how a trailer remotely counts for how a dub will turn out.

Ritsu, Mio and Mugi never sounded moe to being with and Yui having a high voice didn’t make her enjoyable. I was hoping for lower tone voices for the Bandai dub but I guess they had to go with this.
