Well, this week was…suboptimal. Durarara and Flag continue to be solid, but Arslan, Ushio, Gatchaman and God Eater all ended up being disappointing in some form or another. To be fair to Arslan, though, at least it ain’t Gatchaman.

Seriously, though. How DO they get dressed?

By the time you’re reading this, I will already be on my vacation, far away from anime. How is this possible? Through the power of delayed publishing. God bless you, software developers. In any case, Dragon Ball Super reminds us that some characters should just be forgotten about (and that the English dub is way better), Ranpo Kitan completely fails at the “mystery” part of a murder mystery, Shimoneta ends with an exciting twist, Gatchaman Crowds ends with an infuriating twist, and God Eater moves so slowly that it forces Aaron and me to come up with ludicrous theories to keep ourselves entertained.

It just ain’t Dragon Ball without characters consuming vast quantities of food.

It’s a new season, ya’ll! Full of fresh possibilities! Full of excitement! Full of…mediocrity. Yeah, this season is fine, I guess. It’s totally acceptable. It’s a solid B-. I guess I can’t complain too much, though, since we’re getting both a new Dragon Ball and more Gatchaman. On the other hand, we’re also getting Chaos Dragon, so maybe I deserve to complain too much.
