560,000 Attend 76th Comiket

Three days of packed, sweaty chaos at the height of the Japanese summer has seen 560,000 people pass through Tokyo Big Sight’s doors for the 76th bi-annual Comiket. According to attendance figures this number is an increase of over 10,000 people when compared to last years festival, enough to completely swamp the local public transport facilities. With recorded waiting periods of over 4 hours just to get inside, you’d certainly have to be already cashed up and ready to spend, as the extra attendance emptied every single ATM within the conference center. Cash stricken attendees inside the convention notified others of the large problem via the Twitter website.

With such mind boggling numbers over such a small time period, it seems (judging from the photos of ENORMOUS QUEUES) that you have to be very dedicated and prepared just to get in, i.e. plenty of water and your choice of folding chair and/or cushion…

Hello Gorgeous!

From Neon Genesis Evangelion, this figure by Bandai/KaNa depicts Mari Illustrious Makinami in her extremely hot pink test plugsuit. First impressions are that, yes, this figure is quite the awesome. Alluring pose, suit colour and she is wearing glasses~!! Yet unfortunately there are niggles…

Endless Eight in Twenty Minutes!

The arc may have ended, but the aftershocks continue….

While hardcore fans are most definitely going to buy all of the four Endless Eight DVDs, some people may point out that each DVD contains only two episodes; that each DVD will be retailing for $70 USD apiece; and that overall they say each DVD is a complete and utter waste of money until a box set comes out.

But not us at Project Haruhi! No siree!

Nyoron Churuya-san Nendoroid

にょろん…

First off, I am not a fan of Nendoroids, as I’ve never really got into the whole ‘chibi’ thing. However, for those out there that enjoyed the YouTube miniseries The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya-chan, Goodsmile is willing to come to the table with a new Churuya Nendoroid. Churuya comes with all the extras you see in the photos so the lucky purchaser can faithfully create her signature ‘Nyoro~n’ pose, of which is the only thing she really is memorable for…

Kotobukiya Haruhi Figure Review

My personal world of figurine worship has just become a whole lot more awesome with the arrival of the Kotobukiya figurine of Haruhi Suzumiya. I have had my eyes on this figurine ever since she was released to the drooling market in October of 2008, and indeed my initial thoughts are “She is awesome”.

25th Single Release for Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu

_
A new milestone for our favorite anime series The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was reached after the release of Aya Hirano’s new single Super Driver on Wednesday. Since the release of the first single Bouken de-show de-show? in 2006 the franchise has officially sold over 1 million CD’s across 25 releases. This includes the most popular release of the lot, Suzumiya Haruhi no Tsumeawase, which to date has sold over 200,000 copies and includes personal favorites such as Aya’s God Knows! and Lost My Music.

The latest offering, Super Driver, is certainly catchy in OP form but until I hear it in full length without an animated sequence I cannot judge. This CD should also contain the full length version of Tomare!, the theme to the ED containing the voices of  Minori Chihara and Yuko Goto alongside Aya.
